Kampala, 12 July — Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Uganda this morning for a Jamati visit. Eagerly awaiting the Imam, the Uganda Jamat has been busy making preparations for his visit, and celebrating with traditional festivities.

Kampala, 12 July 2011 — Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Uganda this morning, commencing a Jamati visit during which he will also review projects of the Aga Khan Development Network. He was received at Entebbe International Airport by Hon. Simon D’Ujanga, Uganda’s Minister of State for Energy, as well as institutional representatives and leaders of the Uganda Jamat.

Mawlana Hazar Imam then paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni at the State House, the President’s official residence in Entebbe.

During the two-day visit, Mawlana Hazar Imam will meet with the Uganda Jamat, who have been busy making preparations and celebrating with traditional festivities. Hazar Imam will also inspect the construction of the Bujagali Hydroelectric power dam and meet with government leaders.

The trip marks the second leg in Mawlana Hazar Imam’s three-country tour of East Africa, which also includes Tanzania and Kenya.
