Its profound sense of social responsibility, particularly towards the most marginalised members of society, is reflected in the Ismaili Muslims’ deeply-held tradition of voluntary service rendered through community organisations and through civil society institutions that benefit all.

Volunteers key to Canadian initiative to combat HIV-AIDS in Uganda

Access to antiretroviral drugs has restored the quality of life of millions of HIV-positive people, but the cost of this medicine is prohibitive to populations in some areas of the developing world. Arif Alibhai and his colleagues from the University of Alberta have been working with volunteers in rural Uganda to change this.

A rich history of the Scout Movement in Portugal

The history of Scouting in the Portuguese Ismaili community began in 1934 in Mozambique. The Scouting tradition continued as members of the Jamat emigrated from Mozambique to Portugal. Today, the Ismaili Scout group in Portugal is the second largest group in the country.
