About the Games

Golden Jubilee Games Logo

The Golden Jubilee Games: Celebration Through Sport is a global Ismaili sports festival to be held in Nairobi, Kenya from 24 – 29 June 2008. The Games are expected to attract competitors and spectators from more than 20 countries to commemorate Mawlana Hazar Imam's Golden Jubilee. They will participate in a celebration of excellence in sport, as well as a variety of social and cultural activities.

As a Golden Jubilee International Programme, the Golden Jubilee Games have the broader objective of highlighting the importance of sports and exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as physical and mental wellbeing. The Games will showcase athletic excellence while also promoting good sportsmanship, physical fitness and healthy competition. Participants and spectators can look forward to a week of festivities, high-energy programmes, excursions and educational activities, including visits to local projects of the Aga Khan Development Network.

The theme of the Games, Celebration Through Sport, speaks to the spirit of commemorating the Golden Jubilee as a single frontierless brotherhood through the universal language of sport.
