The Ismaili Centre, Dubai is a complex of creative spaces for contemplative, cultural, educational and recreational purposes, designed to encourage understanding and the sharing of wisdom from many perspectives. Built on land that was donated by the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Centre was opened on 26 March 2008 as part of the commemoration of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Golden Jubilee.
Regional and cosmopolitan in its conception, the Ismaili Centre, Dubai draws on spiritual and intellectual roots that give it contemporary resonance. Its courtyards, gardens and watercourses, set amidst interlinking interiors, propose a harmony of tradition and timelessness.
Musical conversation across cultures enthrals audience at the Ismaili Centre, Dubai
Twelve inspiring and talented artists from across the Middle East and Central Asia performed a beautiful and thought-provoking concert at the Ismaili Centre, Dubai recently. It was an important occasion for both the Ismaili Centre and the Aga Khan Music Initiative, intent on bridging gulfs that have existed for the past hundred years.
Three years on, the Ismaili Centre, Dubai can look back with pride
Three years after the opening of the Ismaili Centre, Dubai, it has emerged as a multidisciplinary hub of culture, faith, education, and community identity. Exemplifying the core values of Ismaili Muslims, the Centre offers a platform for dialogue, unity and progress within the Jamat and the wider community.
UK Ismaili Community Ensemble shares its melodies in Dubai
The UK-based Ismaili Community Ensemble undertook a journey to Dubai at the end of September. During the trip, they collaborated with local Jamati members in a performance at the Ismaili Centre, supported an international fundraising event organised by FOCUS, and conducted a workshop with children challenged by disabilities. Dubai Culture recognises Ismaili Centre as a patron of the arts
The Ismaili Centre, Dubai was recently recognised by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority with the inaugural Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Patrons of the Arts Award. The award honours individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution towards the development of Dubai’s cultural sector.
