    A book lands on a table in a library;
    a crowd of people descend on it.
    A child turns a page;
    a story comes to life...

    ALI TO KARIM: A Tribute to the Ismaili Imams recounts the story of our 49 Imams in seven episodes. It traces the unbroken thread of Imamat through the tapestry of Muslim civilisations woven over 1 400 years of history. Staged in the wonderous world of books, it entices the audience into a realm where past and present mingle and come to life.

    Watch as the plume gives way to the first pen: “Construct a pen,” guided the Imam, “which can be used... without having recourse to an ink-holder, and whose ink will be contained inside it.”

    Using the experimental medium of visual projection, ALI TO KARIM transports viewers to 8th century Arabia, 12th century Persia and 17th century France. Spectators will lose themselves in a lyrical world that draws on legends and tales, poetry and paintings, film and historical sources.
