Healthy Hints
This dish gives you much less fat in a serving compared to a regular recipe. The trick is to cook the meat in it's own juices rather than frying it. And although the traditional recipe uses fried onions, we have suggested chopped raw onion to help you have a healthier dish.
Cooking Guide
1. Heat a non-stick pan with a lid. Brown the meat to help seal in the flavours.
2. Add the tomatoes, salt, spices (except garam masala), onion and a few tablespoons of hot water. Cover and cook over a low heat for about 15-20 minutes till the beef is soft but not yet fully cooked. Check from time to time and add a little more hot water if it is beginning to "stick" at the bottom.
3. Stir in the potatoes, adjust spices and add more water if needed. Cover and cook till the potatoes are softened and the beef is tender. Sprinkle with garam masala and serve.
